The Guidance and Counselling Department (GDC) in coordination with teacher Bruno (Diploma I tutor), organized a panel discussion on the International Baccalaureate Diploma experience. Therefore, our alumni who successfully obtained the Diploma in 2017, shared their experiences with Diploma 1 and 2 students. This was an important moment to share concerns, suggestions, and challenges among other IB Diploma aspects and what it means in terms of post-secondary higher education.
We appreciate our alumni’s willingness to make this moment happen and discuss their important experiences.

Aunque no todos estuvieron en Cusco para recibir el Diploma IB debido a sus estudios universitarios, enviaron a sus seres queridos a recibir el premio en su representación. Los cuatro estudiantes que pudieron asistir personalmente ofrecieron discursos muy emotivos reconociendo el valor de la experiencia así como el gran esfuerzo requerido por parte de de ellos, pero también de aquellos que brindaron su apoyo, entre ellos los muchos docentes y familiares que los acompañaron ese día. Indudablemente, la parte más emotiva del evento fueron las reflexiones de los estudiantes; a ello se sumó las palabras de felicitación y admiración, llenas de afecto que fueron dadas por Verónica Ugarte – Directora, Zoe Gillett – Coordinadora de Diploma IB y Bruno Vazquez – Tutor.

Sin lugar a dudas, esta fue una celebración para recordar por siempre.

The sun was shining bright on this special day in April to present the IB Diplomas to Andino Cusco International’s IB Diploma class of 2017. This was an extra special year as all eight students registered for the IB Diploma Program obtained this great achievement. We were very pleased that so many important allies from the Cusco community were able to accompany us on this momentous occasion including UGEL-Cusco, UGEL Anta, ICPNA-Cusco, Alianza Francesa de Cusco, Clinica San Juan de Dios and more.

Although some of the IB Diploma recipients were not in Cusco due to their university studies, many sent loved ones to receive the award on their behalf.  The four students who were able to attend in person gave moving speeches acknowledging the value of the experience as well as the great effort it required and those who provided instrumental support, including many teachers and family members accompanying them that day. While the student reflections were undoubtedly the most moving moment of the event, heartfelt words of congratulations, encouragement, and admiration were offered by Veronica Ugarte – principal, Zoe Gillett – IB Diploma Coordinator, and Bruno Vazquez – tutor.

It was certainly a celebration to remember.
