The Pérez Romero family used puppets and stories to talk to the Kinder students about the importance of respecting rights and fulfilling responsibilities.

Students explored the components required to get along in a balanced society.

Students completed this activity during the first Unit of Inquiry. This unit allows students to explore how to live harmoniously with others, respect others rights and fulfill responsibilities both at school and at home.

The Kinder children won the prize of a field trip from collecting Andean coins, which were obtained by using the attributes and attitudes of the IB.

This activity was connected to the Unit of Inquiry “We interact with local environments, we use them in different ways”, by which, they observed the natural environment of the Huaypo Lagoon, to enjoy and experience the natural spaces and take care responsibilities and protection of the environment.

Los niños y las niñas de Kinder se conectan con el aprendizaje del segundo idioma a través de la música. La experiencia de incorporar la música como herramienta de aprendizaje les motiva a continuar buscando expresiones en inglés. La música les permite ingresar a un nuevo mundo en el que pueden combinar sus gustos musicales y, al mismo tiempo, aprender vocabulario nuevo.

“Wonderful World” es una canción que responde al respeto y aprecio por el espacio natural en el que vivimos. Las letras incluyen el vocabulario utilizado por los y las estudiantes en otras experiencias de aprendizaje y también nuevas palabras que les ayuda a expresarse mejor.

The Kinder children connect with learning a second language through music. The experience of incorporating music as a learning tool, motivates children to continue developing English expression. Music enables them to access a new world in which they can combine their musical interests with learning new vocabulary.

“Wonderful World” is a song that addresses respect and appreciation for the natural world in which we live. The lyrics include vocabulary used by students in other learning experiences as well as new words that can help them express themselves better.

As part of the Unit of Inquiry into “How we express ourselves”, the Pre-Kinder children engaged in an interesting learning experience through which they explored their body through the Capoeira martial art. Teacher Saul, from the Nago school in Marcavalle, taught them combine dance with acrobatics as a way to express emotions through movements without physical contact or aggression.

We asked our Kinder children to express how they feel and what they value about their classmates through art. Each day, over a week, we chose a group of classmates about whom to comment on their most outstanding attributes. Within the Unit “Art helps us express our emotions” they used wet chalk to express their thoughts and emotions about others. Great job, Kinder!

As every year, our Family Day culminated with a bar contest. This year, the slogan was to represent the attributes of the IB creatively. Special thanks to those who were our judges for this difficult work. Congratulations to all the families for their enthusiasm and participation and in a special way, to the KINDER families for obtaining the first position.

La Unidad que estamos desarrollando estudia cómo la geografía influye en las interacciones y costumbres de las personas. Nuestros y nuestras estudiantes de Kinder demostraron su indagación al realizar preguntas interesantes como ¿en qué parte de tu país el clima es más caluroso?, ¿qué costumbre de tu país te gusta más?, ¿la comida de tu país es igual a la comida peruana?, ¿cómo te sentiste en Cusco?, ¿por qué las estaciones en tu país son muy coloridas?, ¿en tu país hay montañas como en Cusco?, etc.

Las dos invitadas respondieron a muchas de las inquietudes de los niños y niñas explicándoles mediante fotos, imágenes, vídeos, etc. ¡Muchas gracias por apoyar nuestras indagaciones!

The Kinder classroom received visits from Blanca, from Spain, and Katy, Emily’s mother from England, who shared their adaptation process in Cusco with the children. They also talked about their customs, the population of their country, climate, etc.

This was part of the unit of inquiry into how geography influences people’s interactions and customs. Our students demonstrated their inquiry by asking interesting questions such as, where in your country is the weather warmer? What custom do you like most in your country? Is your country’s food like Peruvian food?, How did you feel in Cusco?, Why are the seasons in your country so colorful?, in your country are there mountains like in Cusco?, etc.

The two guests responded to many of the children’s questions by explaining through photos, pictures and videos. Thank you very much for supporting our inquiries!

The Kinder children explored the space that surrounds their body (their Kinesphere), they used a hula hoop to develop awareness and identify this space. When we are aware of this imaginary sphere, we can be more conscious of our entire body and take care of our “vital space”. Finally they played with balloons to identify their radius of action.
