The First Graders visited the Villa del Carmen School, as part of the responsible actions and result of the learning process of the last unit of inquiry. Through this experience they studied in a transdisciplinary way with ​​Physical Education through which students were offered the opportunity to act, make decisions and reflect on the actions that affect our environment, sharing sports equipment (posts, bowling, and more) made with recycled material. In addition, they socialized with the students of Villa del Carmen playing with this material in contact with nature.

Disfrutando del aprendizaje han  observado lombrices, descubierto papas que servirán de semillas en la próxima siembra, han trabajado la tierra y medido distancia y cantidad sobre el terreno, entre otros.

Todo ello en una jornada soleada llena de diversión, en la cual compartieron sus loncheras y aprendieron nuevos juegos.

In their final visit for the year, the 1st graders students were able to organize, work as a team and collaborate with the project to build a vegetable garden. The IB Primary Years Program promotes certain attitudes, including cooperation and curiosity. It has been very enriching to appreciate the environment that surrounds us and to learn from nature.

Their fun learning activities included observing worms, discovering potatoes that will serve as seeds in the next planting, working the land, and measuring the distance and quantity on the ground, among others.

All this on a sunny day full of fun, in which they shared their lunch boxes and learned new games.

Las danzas también representan la vida diaria de los pueblos. Choque Jitiris, en aymara, quiere decir trabajo de la papa y representa todo la labor de siembra y cultivo de este importante tubérculo andino. En esta danza, mujeres y hombres trabajan por igual, con la ayuda de algunos animales como el burro y la vaca.

En representación de la sierra sur del Perú, Primer Grado les presenta “Choque Jitiris”.

Los proyectos que desarrollaron fueron: “Filtro casero purificador”, “¿El aire pesa?”, “Granja de lombrices”, “Pasas saltarinas”, “Globo aerostático casero” y “Generador casero eolico”.

As part of the Science Fair, first grade carried out projects related to the elements that make life possible. In class they prepared various experiments that were then presented to their classmates and their families.

Their projects included: “Homemade Water Filter”, “Does air have weight?”, “Worm farm”, “Jumping raisins”, “Homemade hot air balloon” and “Homemade wind generator”.

Estamos orgullosos de ver el avance en la lectura en inglés de nuestros y nuestras estudiantes de primer grado, el cual fue posible gracias al programa Jolly Phonics que enseñamos desde Pre-Kinder (4 años).

Nuestro enfoque en primaria es que nuestros y nuestras estudiantes aprendan A TRAVÉS, SOBRE y EN los idiomas español e inglés.Los niños y niñas desarrollan amor por la lectura, tanto para resolver sus propias preguntas como de manera recreativa; desarrollan igualmente apreciación por la lectura gracias al uso de nuestra Biblioteca.

As closure of the unit of inquiry into Who We Are, the First Graders gave a presentation about their family’s customs and traditions, identifying the importance of family for personal identity. The students showed enthusiasm and creativity with their family traditions including dances, meals, clothes, songs, among others.
